Visualizing Solutions for Parkinson s Disease

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is classically described as a motor disorder related to the loss of DA nigrostriatal innervation. Yet, in the last decade this simplified concept has been challenged as other areas of the CNS and PNS are being identified as having a significant role in PD. As our understanding of this disease evolves, so do the animal models and the tools needed for preclinical and clinical evaluation. This talk will focus on our efforts to develop new monkey models of PD and imaging applications, including our multidisciplinary work to create MRI tools for intracerebral targeting and for the assessment of CNS structural organization that affects intracerebral distribution of therapies.
