Radiation Dosimetry in Computed Tomography
Frank Ranallo, PhD
Professor, Departments of Medical Physics and Radiology
CT uses a set of radiation concepts and quantities that are additional to the conventional ones. This seminar will address the following questions:
- How are these CT radiation quantities properly defined and properly measured?
- What are the problems in their measurement?
- How are they used and how do they relate to patient radiation dose and risks?
- How is the expression of patient dose confusing -- to the patient, physician, radiologist, technologist, and medical physicist?
- How is it sometimes improperly used in published papers and reports?
