Cai Group Receives Four Awards at the 2013 SNMMI Annual Meeting in Vancouver
The Molecular Imaging and Nanotechnology Laboratory (http://mi.wisc.edu/) shines again at this year’s Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) Annual Meeting in Vancouver, Canada (June 8-12, 2013).
Dr. Hao Hong, 1st Research Associate of the group, and Yin Zhang, 1st Graduate Student of the group, each received a Travel Award to attend the conference. The SNMMI annual meeting typically has ~5,000 attendees and ~2,000 submitted abstracts, and only a total of ~20 Travel Awards ($1,000 each) are given each year.
Dr. Hao Hong also received the Alavi-Mandell Award from SNMMI for his 2012 publication in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, the #1 journal of the field. Among all the 2012 papers in JNM, only ~10 Awards were given in this category.
Dr. Hakan Orbay was selected to compete in the Cardiovascular Council Young Investigator Award Symposium, and finished 3rd Place in the preclinical abstract category. Only the top scored abstracts based on 5 independent reviewers were chosen to compete in the symposium.
In addition, Prof. Cai was invited to give a 50-minute Categorical Seminar on “Labeling Peptide/Proteins with Radiometalsâ€, which was well-attended with a full room of audience. This is the 3rd year that the Molecular Imaging and Nanotechnology laboratory submitted abstracts to the SNMMI annual meeting. Among the 8 abstracts submitted this year, 7 were selected as oral presentations. The Cai group has won multiple awards at the SNMMI meeting every year: 2 for 2011, 4 for 2012, and 4 for 2013.
