NIH ORIP success story: Marina Emborg and Colleagues Make Advances in Detecting Heart Disease in Parkinson's
This week, NIH ORIP highlights the work of Professor Marina Emborg, who, along with a team of collaborators including her former students Dr. Valerie Joers and Dr. Jeanette Metzger, as well as colleagues in the departments of Cardiovascular Medicine and Neurology, have made advances in detecting and visualizing heart disease in Parkinson's patients. Using cardiac PET imaging, combined with a new generation of radioligands, nerve damage can be detected in the hearts of these patients and new therapies can be evaluated.
