Cai Research Group Shines at 2015 SNMMI Annual Meeting

The Molecular Imaging and Nanotechnology Laboratory (http://mi.wisc.edu/) had another successful year at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) Annual Meeting in Baltimore (June 6-10, 2015). With 17 abstracts submitted from the Cai Research Group and collaborators, there were 14 oral presentations from the group which ranked as the 2nd highest group in terms of number of talks at the meeting (the #1 ranked group was from Harvard Medical School/MGH).

Five Cai Group members (Feng Chen, Haiming Luo, Reinier Hernandez, Sixiang Shi, and Shreya Goel) attended the meeting, each has at least 1 oral presentation and each received a Travel Award ($1000 each, a total of 25 Travel Awards was given this year).

There are many Young Investigator Award (YIA) Symposiums at the SNMMI Annual Meeting, where the highest scored abstracts were chosen to compete in the symposium. 4 of the Cai Group abstracts were chosen to compete in 3 different YIA Symposiums, and received a 3rd place in the Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation [CMIIT] YIA Symposium and a 3rd place in the Cardiovascular Council YIA Symposium. At the meeting, the Chinese American Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (CASNMMI) also had a competition for Young Scientist Award, and Feng Chen received the 2nd prize. At the SNMMI Annual Meeting, there are several summary sessions and highlight lectures where leaders in the field summarize the best abstracts presented at the Annual Meeting. 4 of the Cai Group abstracts were presented in the highlight lecture.

Prof. Cai also organized and moderated 2 Continuing Education sessions (1 entitled "Nanomedicine" and 1 entitled "PET/SPECT imaging of cardiovascular diseases") and both sessions were well attended.
